This EMDR Advanced Workshop is a two-day course on how to apply EMDR Therapy Tools for working with Addictions. Addictions will be explored through trauma based models as well as the stages of change. The lectures and experiential exercises will explore helping clients become more connected to their bodies somatically, implementing stabilization skills and using affect regulation interventions to help create safety for the client. EMDR Readiness, case conceptualization and EMDR Therapy protocols will be implemented. Issues during the Desensitization Phase of EMDR Therapy such as affect regulation, blocked processing, trust and shame will be explored. Participants will be able to put these skills into their practice immediately. This weekend will include time for case discussion and application.

Learning Objectives
- Discuss that clients struggling with addictions have poor self-regulation
- Apply one RDI to help relapse prevention.
- Recognize the importance of resourcing clients before doing EMDR Therapy trauma protocol to develop a window of tolerance.
- Identify there are stages of change in the Addiction process.
- Recognize at least two signs that a client is entering the Pocket of Trust.
- Summarize the Victim-Rescuer-Perpetrator Triangle.
- Identify at least two interventions when client is in the Pocket of Trust.
- Apply different ways of developing target lists in working with addictions.
- Demonstrate how to build dual awareness for clients to help build safety in processing.
- List at least two ways to keep clients in the window of tolerance during desensitization phase.
- Discuss at least two cognitive interweaves for stuck processing during desensitization phase.
- Practice future self care scripts to help clients end sessions with their resources intact.
