EMDR Therapy Tools with Somatic Interventions – EMDR Advanced Workshop – Boulder, Colorado – July 2017 — EMDR Therapy Trainers: Barb Maiberger, MA, LPC and Arielle Schwartz, Ph.D, LP — This two-day EMDRIA approved EMDR Advanced Workshop is an introduction to Somatic Psychology and how it interfaces with the 8 Phases of EMDR Therapy. Somatic Psychology studies the relationship between the body and psychological states by highlighting physiological patterns as a primary foundation of human behavior. Therapists will learn the history of somatic psychology and the basic principles that are the foundations of body centered therapies. This course will review the physiology of the nervous system and how somatic interventions directly influence nervous system regulation and therapy. These somatic interventions will be explored didactically and experientially through practices including body awareness, non-verbal communications, exploration of body posturing, as well as habitual stress responses. The weekend will include time for case discussion and application.

EMDR Therapy Tools for Addictions – EMDR Advanced Workshop – Boulder, Colorado – April 2017 — EMDR Trainers: Barb Maiberger, MA, LPC and John Gray, MA, LPC, CACIII — This EMDR Advanced Workshop is a two-day course on how to apply EMDR Therapy Tools for working with Addictions. Addictions will be explored through trauma based models as well as the stages of change. The lectures and experiential exercises will explore helping clients become more connected to their bodies somatically, implementing stabilization skills and using affect regulation interventions to help create safety for the client. EMDR Readiness, case conceptualization and EMDR Therapy protocols will be implemented. Issues during the Desensitization Phase of EMDR Therapy such as affect regulation, blocked processing, trust and shame will be explored. Participants will be able to put these skills into their practice immediately. This weekend will include time for case discussion and application.

EMDR Therapy Tools for Attachment Trauma – EMDR Advanced Workshop – Boulder, Colorado – March 2017 — EMDR Trainers: Barb Maiberger, MA, LPC and Arielle Schwartz, Ph.D, LP — This two-day EMDR Advanced Workshop applies EMDR Therapy tools for working with attachment trauma with adults. Lectures include the neurobiology of attachment, attachment styles, as well as interventions to use for attachment repair. Questionnaires and tools will be taught and practiced to help assess client attachment wounding. The 8 Phases of EMDR Therapy in relationship to Attachment wounding will be discussed. History taking will assess specific cognitions and possible targets for the early developmental period of attachment. RDI will be used to stabilize the client in preparation for EMDR Therapy reprocessing. During desensitization blocked processing and shame will be discussed with specific ways to manage affect regulation with body-based interventions to keep the client processing. There will be didactic and experiential exercises for therapists to apply this work to their practice and opportunity for in depth case discussion.
