EMDR Therapy Tools for Grief and Loss

This EMDRIA approved EMDR Advanced Workshop is a two-day course providing tools for EMDR therapists working with issues around Grief and Loss. Lectures will include recognizing signs and symptoms of normal grief vs. complex grief, traumatic grief, stages of grief, and looking at case conceptualization. Special attention will be paid to issues of attachment and other unresolved historical experiences that can complicate the healing process. Experiential interventions will be explored in order to support resourcing and processing of both normal and complex grief. Participants will walk away with practical tools that they can immediately apply to EMDR Therapy practice.

EMDR Therapy Trainers

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize my own cultural biases with grief and loss.
  • Identify the differences between normal grief and complicated grief.
  • Recognize at least 2 emotional signs or symptoms for normal grieving process.
  • Identify at least 2 factors that prolong or complicate the grieving process.
  • Apply a grief and loss timeline for Case Conceptualization for EMDR Therapy.
  • Determine when the recent event protocol is relevant to a recent single loss.
  • Describe how to set up a target around a stuck belief for grief and loss.
  • Recount how Attachment wounds can impact the grieving process.
  • Explain the importance of RDI’s before processing grief.
  • Demonstrate at least 2 RDI’s in support of processing grief.
  • Describe how transitions can have a grief process and be potential targets for EMDR Therapy.
  • Recall at least 2 interweaves for stuck processing during Desensitization Phase in EMDR Therapy.

Required Handouts

Required Handouts will be emailed to Participants one week prior to start date of workshop. All Participants are required to bring these materials with them by either printing their own copy, or by bringing it in digital form (tablet, laptop). Additional copies will not be available at the workshop. All copyrighted workshop materials will only be available for the duration of the workshop.

Eligibility Requirements for EMDR Advanced Workshops

Full completion of an EMDRIA approved EMDR Training is required in order to participate in this workshop. All applicants are required to email a scanned copy of their  EMDR Training “Certificate of Completion” to the Maiberger Institute prior to registration and payment:

All Applicants must confirm their eligibility prior to registration and payment. If an Applicant is found to be ineligible after registration and payment is provided, the Applicant’s seat and registration will be automatically cancelled due to ineligibility, and the Applicant will be refunded their registration payment, minus a non-refundable and non-transferrable $95 Administrative Fee. Certificate and Credits

Upon full participation and completion of this EMDR Advanced Workshop, Graduates will receive an “Certificate of Completion” from the Maiberger Institute.

Certificates and credit hours will only be provided for full participation and completion of the EMDR Advanced Workshop for which the participant is registered. Only NBCC members may receive NBCC CE Hours for this workshop, only EMDRIA members may receive EMDRIA Credits (EC) for this workshop, and only members of APA will be awarded APA CE Hours for this workshop. Non-members will be awarded general workshop “clock hours” on their Certificates. Certificates and credit hours will not be provided for participants that cancel, partially attend, “No Shows,” or for those that do not complete the entire workshop (see Cancellation Policy below). Additional fees will apply for replacement copies of Certificates.

EMDRIA Credits: 12 EC  The Maiberger Institute offers 12 EMDRIA Credits (EC) for this EMDR Advanced Workshop – Provider #GP1504. The Maiberger Institute maintains responsibility for this program, and its content in accordance with EMDRIA standards.

APA Credit Hours: 12 CE Hours — The Maiberger Institute is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Maiberger Institute maintains responsibility for this program and its contents.

Registration Policies

  • By registering and providing payment for this workshop, all applicants are agreeing all the terms, policies, and conditions of this workshop.
  • All therapists participating in this workshop agree to conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner during the workshop.
  • The Maiberger Institute reserves the right to request any Participant to leave the workshop if that Participant is not acting in a professional or ethical manner, and the Participant’s registration in the workshop will be cancelled with no refunds. (see Code of Conduct policies below.)
  • All registrations must be made online using this website.
  • The applicant, registrant, and payee must be the same person.

Payment Policies

  • Full payment is due at time of registration.
  • All payments must be made online through this website.
  • Only Visa and MasterCard credit cards will be accepted.
  • Final price quoted on the Registration Page is the full amount due at time of registration and payment, and has already been adjusted for fees, discounts, and seating availability.
  • The registrant and the payee must be the same person. The name and email address of the registrant and payee must match the name and email on the credit card bill.
  • After entering Registration Information, proceed to the Payment Page. Click on the credit card icon to update the billing information. The billing address must match the address on the credit card bill.
  • Please make sure all information is accurate prior to finalizing payment.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • All requirements, policies, terms, and conditions for this workshop apply to all Applicants, Registrants, and Payees.
  • Applicants may cancel their registration at any time for any reason. Only the original Applicant may request a cancellation and only for their own registration.
  • All requests for cancellation must be made and confirmed in writing, and only by the Applicant via the email account used during registration.
  • If an Applicant cancels their registration before the start date of workshop, the Applicant’s seat and registration will be cancelled, and the Applicant’s payment will be refunded, minus a non-refundable and non-transferrable $95 Administrative Fee.
  • Refunds can only be provided by the original means paid, and to the original payee.
  • There are no refunds on or after start date of workshop.
  • Any Applicant that has not checked in by start time of workshop will be considered a “No Show,” and the applicant’s seat, registration and credits will be cancelled.
  • Any Applicant that cannot (or chooses not to) complete the workshop in its entirety will be considered a “No Show,” and the Applicant’s seat, registration and credits will be cancelled.
  • There are no refunds for “No Shows,” partial attendance, for those that arrive late or leave early, or for those that do not or cannot complete the workshop in its entirety as scheduled.
  • Seats, registrations, payments, fees, credits, and hours cannot be transferred to other workshops, or to other persons after registration and payment is received by the Maiberger Institute.
  • If an Applicant is found to be ineligible after registration and payment is provided, the Applicant’s seat and registration will be automatically cancelled, and the Applicant will be refunded their registration payment, minus a non-refundable and non-transferrable $95 Administrative Fee.   • If the scheduled workshop is cancelled by the Maiberger Institute, registrants will be notified, and a full refund will be provided to all registrants.

Code of Conduct and Participation Policies

  • All Participants agree to all Terms and Conditions of this workshop by providing registration and payment.
  • All Participants will be required to agree to the “EMDR Advanced Workshop Participant Agreement, Release and Assumption of Risk form at time of registration and payment.
  • All Participants agree to conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner during the workshop. The Maiberger Institute reserves the right to request any Participant to leave the workshop if that Participant is not acting in a professional or ethical manner, and the Participant’s registration in the workshop will be cancelled with no refunds.
  • Participants are prohibited from recording workshop sessions by electronic devices (audio/video), or distributing the recording or any portion thereof.
  • The Maiberger Institute reserves the right to change, modify, alter, or delete any requirements, policies, terms and conditions as necessary without notice.

Hotels, Transportation, and Dining

Registrants are responsible for arranging their own travel (accommodations, transportation, dining, etc.). The registration fee for this workshop does not include travel costs. The Maiberger Institute is not liable for refunds for travel expenses due to cancellations.
