It is highly recommended that you have a reliable pool of clients and practice people prior to or at the time of your EMDR Training. Those who take the training that currently do not have clients, must find “practice people” to complete the training. Therapists are required to practice with at least four different clients throughout the training. More details will be discussed during Part 1.

The Group Consultation sessions are held during regular business hours (9am to 5pm MST) during regular business weekdays (Monday to Friday). The times and dates of Group Consultation sessions will be determined at the first weekend of training. Group Consultations are conducted call via teleconferencing, or video chat (Zoom)

If a therapist participated in “Level 1” of an EMDRIA approved EMDR Basic Training prior to 2008 (and did not participate in Part 2), EMDRIA would not consider that therapist to be fully trained in EMDR Therapy.  The therapist would need to complete their training in order to practice EMDR Therapy. If a therapist completed both “Level I” and “Level II” EMDR Basic Training prior to 2008, EMDRIA would consider that therapist trained in EMDR Therapy. After 2008, therapist must completed EMDR Training Part 1, Part 2, and 10 hours of Group Consultation in order to be trained in EMDR Therapy. If the Remote EMDR Training you are interested in is presently full/sold-out, you have the option of either selecting another training that is presently on the EMDR Training Schedule, or you can choose to be placed on the waitlist.

The first step would be contact the Maiberger Institute ([email protected]) to pre-confirm your eligibility for the training you wish to be added.

Once your eligibility has been pre-confirmed, the next step would be to subscribe to our newsletter for either training or workshop updates. Once your subscription is confirmed, you’ll be placed on the waitlist.

Once a seat or a new training become available, those on the waitlist are contacted. Please note that being on the waitlist does not guarantee a seat in the intended training. Enrollment is first-come-first-served based on availability.

Barb is available to EMDR Therapists for consultation and group consultations. Barb is not available for therapy sessions.

If a Participant wishes to have their “Certificate of Completion” for either a Remote EMDR Training or a Somatic EMDR Workshop reprinted, the Participant would need to email us from the original email account they used when they enrolled in the training.

Participant would need to send an email to us  ([email protected]) with the following information:

  • Full Legal Name 
  • Mailing Address
  • Title of the training or workshop that you took from us in the past, including city, state, and dates.
  • Confirm how your name should appear on the certificate 

 

Digital version are available for free. The fee to reprint a physical paper certificate is $50. Once we have received all necessary information then we will send you a payment link. Once payment is received we will send out the new certificate.

* Additional information may be required in some cases including previous copies of certificate, driver’s license, graduate diploma, etc.

 

Remote Manuals, handouts and other online materials are sent out via email about a week prior to the first day of scheduled EMDR Training to the email address the Participant provided on their registration form.

Participants do not need to read all of the required books prior to the scheduled Remote EMDR Training.

Reading assignments and other homework will be sent via email as part of the training.

If a Participant wishes to have their book at the training, they can purchase the books online. If they are an Amazon Prime, they should receive books fairly quickly. Some of the books are available via Kindle.

Participants also have the option of seeing if their local bookstore carries any of the books on their shelves.

Books will not be available for sale at the training.

Participants do need to bring their books with them to the training.

The Maiberger Institute will review any extraordinary circumstances that may impact a therapist’s ability to attend or complete their assigned training on a case by case basis. Unless otherwise noted, the existing terms and conditions will apply.

If a therapist has completed “Level 1” of Remote EMDR Training from a standard EMDR basic training program other than the Maiberger Institute, completing the EMDR basic training with the original provider is highly recommended.

EMDR Advanced Workshops provided by the Maiberger Institute are only open to therapists that have fully completed a Remote EMDR Training. All therapist must provide a scanned copy of their EMDR Training Certificate of Completion to the Maiberger Institute prior to registration and payment in to confirm their eligibility.

There is also an “audio” icon, which will speak the words to you (please turn on your speakers). If you continue to have problems, more than likely, your browser settings need to conform to the technical specification outlined on the registration page. You’ll need to turn off all pop-up blockers, and set your browser to accept cookies. If you continue to have problems, please email customer support for assistance.

On the registration page, there are technical guidelines that must be followed in order for the form to process correctly. Your browser should be set to accept cookies, and you should turn off all pop-up blockers.  Be sure to clear out your cache and browser history. After you fill out the registration form, and confirmed your information, you will be taken to the payment page. Click on the credit card icon to update the payment information. The name of the registrant must match the name on the credit card. The billing address must match the address on the credit card bill. Visa/Mastercard only. If you continue to have difficulty with registration and payment, please email [email protected] for assistance.

The Remote EMDR Training Manual is password protected and is only accessible to registrants of Remote EMDR Training. If you cannot find the email that was sent to you regarding access to required online training materials, please email [email protected] for assistance.

In general, each therapist will be expected share cases utilizing Remote EMDR Therapy in order to complete their training. Participants are required to practice EMDR Therapy with at least four different clients to complete the training.

We recommend seeking guidance from your local EMDR association regarding EMDR training guidelines and requirements. In order to be eligible for our Remote EMDR Training program, Participants must have completed a master level graduate degree in mental health and must also be presently licensed within the United States as a mental health professional. Special provisions might be available to those who are currently going to graduate school or seeking licensure in the United States.

In order to practice Remote EMDR Therapy, you will first need to obtain an “Remote EMDR Training Certificate of Completion” by completing a standard Remote EMDR Training program, like the one offered by the Maiberger Institute. Once you have completed the full Remote EMDR Training, you can practice EMDR therapy under your license. The Remote EMDR Training offered by the Maiberger Institute will prepare you to practice Remote EMDR Therapy. After completing the Remote EMDR Training, you may go onto become an “Certified EMDR Therapist” through the Maiberger Institute, which requires additional client sessions, consultations, and training. You do not need to become an “Certified EMDR Therapist” in order to practice EMDR therapy; you just need to complete the Remote EMDR Training and receive a “Certificate of Completion” to begin practicing EMDR therapy.

Upon completion of Remote EMDR Training, you will receive an “EMDR Training Certificate of Completion” from the Maiberger Institute. This means you have been trained to practice EMDR Therapy, and you will be able to join our EMDR Therapist Directory for free.

Once you’ve completed EMDR Training and get listed on our Directory, you will have the option of becoming a “Certified EMDR Therapist” through the Maiberger Institute.

You do not need to be a “Certified EMDR Therapist” to  practice EMDR therapy.  However, therapists who continue on to become a “Certified EMDR Therapist” deepen their skill level as an EMDR therapist, and enjoy using EMDR therapy in more expansive and creative ways.

Whether or not a clinicians is considered “Trained in EMDR Therapy” will depend on when they completed their Remote EMDR Training program (aka EMDR Training, Basic EMDR Training, EMDR basic training, virtual EMDR basic training)

 

1) 2008 to present:

  • Therapist have completed Remote EMDR Training — 40 hours of training (Part 1 and Part 2) plus 10 hours of Group Consultation — and received a “Certificate of Completion”

 

2) Before 2008:

  • Completed “Level 1” AND “Level 2”, AND received a “Certificate of Completion” for both parts AND completed all requisite Consultation Hours from an standard EMDR basic training.
  • If a therapist has completed “Level 1” training (only) prior to 2008, the therapist is NOT considered a fully trained in EMDR therapy.

No. You are not required to join the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) in order to practice EMDR therapy.

Yes. Upon completion of Remote EMDR Training, you will receive an “EMDR Training Certificate of Completion” from the Maiberger Institute. This means you received EMDR training that meets or exceeds a standard EMDR basic training program, and that you may begin offering and practicing EMDR therapy with clients. You will also be eligible to get listed on our EMDR Therapist Directory (free).

Once you’ve completed your training, and get listed on our directory, you then have the option of becoming a “Certified EMDR Therapist” through the Maiberger Institute as well. Visit our EMDR Certification page for more details.
