“Etiology of and treatment of Medically Unexplained Symptoms”

Presented by Arielle Schwartz, PhD, and Ashley Davis, MA, LPC.

Having attended the 2012 EMDRIA conference in Washington D.C., Arielle Schwartz, PhD, and Ashley Davis, MA, LPC will present the work of Uri Bergmann and his discussion of the “Etiology of and treatment of Medically Unexplained Symptoms.” The presentation will integrate additional conference material as presented by Carol Forgash, Rachel Yehuda, and Stephen Porges that relates to applying EMDR to health related symptoms.

Arielle Schwartz, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified EMDR consultant. She facilitates the basic EMDR training and instructs EMDR advanced CEU courses on integrating somatic approaches with EMDR and EMDR for attachment based trauma. Arielle integrates mindfulness practices into therapy and has been a certified yoga instructor since 1996. She maintains a private practice in Boulder offering a client-centered, body-oriented, and strength based therapeutic approach for adults, children, and families.

Ashley Davis, MA, LPC, has a private practice in Boulder & Denver working with adolescents, adults and families. Much of her private practice consists of working with trauma in which she combines EMDR, Gestalt, spiritual counseling and Neurofeedback in her sessions. Ashley’s clinical experience includes working therapeutically with adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups in a variety of therapeutic settings for over 15 years. She has had the opportunity to work in school, wilderness therapy, residential programs, and as a chaplain. Ashley has worked as adjunct faculty at Naropa University and continues to work as a Clinical Support Professional during fall semesters at Naropa in the Contemplative Department.

Notice #1
PLEASE NOTE SPICE OF LIFE POLICY FOR ATTENDING WITHOUT BUYING LUNCH. It is the policy of Spice of Life that you may NOT bring your own food to the meeting. Spice of Life only recently made me aware of this. If you wish to come without buying lunch, please do not bring food to eat at the meeting. Spice of Life can make special meals on request. Ask me if you have a question about getting a special meal.

Notice #2
There IS such a thing as a free lunch if you would help with the registration table. It’s pretty simple and I will be there with you at first, but you will need to stay at the registration table for the first half of the meeting to greet anybody who comes late.

RSVP: To register, e-mail Keith Andresen, MA, LPC ([email protected]) by Wednesday January 23rd so he can send a lunch count to Spice of Life. The cost is $20.00 for the meeting with lunch or $5 for the meeting without lunch. You will pay on the day of the meeting at the door. Please register by Wednesday January 23rd.

When I get your e-mail, I will send you a confirmation e-mail. If you don’t get a confirmation e-mail within a few days, please e-mail me again as your e-mail may not have reached me.

For those who register late (after Wednesday January 23rd), the fee will be $24.00.

NOTE: Due to food preparation requirements at Spice of Life, we are charged for meals cancelled after January 23rd. We request you pay for the meal ($18.50) if you cancel after Wednesday January 23rd because we will be charged for that meal.
